Running from Kinlochewe to the shores of the sea, Glen Torridon is one of the most evocative landscapes in the world.

Appin is widely recognised as a leading example of rainforest restoration in Scotland. The woods are part of a mosaic of habitats that are free of invasive species, and a diverse range of native tree species is securing a future for the rainforest.

This project aims to work with landowners and communities in the Knapdale area to develop and deliver landscape-scale restoration, starting with the control of Rhododendron ponticum.  

The West Cowal Habitat Regeneration Project area includes the peninsulas of Kilfinan and Colintraive, which encapsulate the Kyles of Bute National Scenic Area and Isle of Bute.

Partners are working together to regenerate and reconnect ancient Caledonian pine fragments and surviving rainforest remnants in this area that is also important for its freshwater, peatland and mountain environments.

On the wild and beautiful Morvern peninsula, fragments of Scotland’s rainforest still remain – living reminders of a richer, wilder past. Today, this rare habitat has been pushed to the edges, its native species crowded out by invasive rhododendron.
