Focus Projects
One of our key aims is creating landscape-scale projects across the rainforest zone
The Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest recognises that rainforest restoration can only take place on a landscape scale, where there is an opportunity to deliver real and lasting benefits. As a voluntary partnership, ASR is unable to lead projects itself, so instead ‘adopts’ projects that conform to a particular set of criteria. Once a project has been adopted by ASR, all partner organisations will get behind it to make it as successful as possible, no matter which organisation is leading it.
These projects are in urgent need of funding…

Only 30,000 hectares of rainforest remains in Scotland - that’s a wee bit bigger than Edinburgh.

Running from Kinlochewe to the shores of the sea, Glen Torridon is one of the most evocative landscapes in the world. Contained within the Loch Maree Complex Special Area of Conservation and including part of Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve, this area of about 28,000 hectares contains a mosaic of rich habitats, including rainforest.
